Volunteer Get-together
January 3, 2018 – First Wednesday Volunteer get together and planning session.

This is a very informal gathering of our volunteers and supporters– the later you stay the more informal the evening gets.
It is a great chance to meet us and see who we are and what we do.
Charleston Harbor Fish House – for dinner and/or a beer.

BRING A FRIEND – if you know of someone who wants to volunteer, ask them to join us on Wednesday.
I hope you will come out , meet some interesting people and make some new friends.

This is a Dutch event where everyone pays their own tab.

January 26-28, 2018 Charleston Boat Show

Charleston, SC – Turtle Putt will be back frustrating boaters at the Charleston Boat Show at the Charleston Convention Center. Come and visually see for yourself the impact that trash and debris has on sea turtles and coastal wildlife.  Who knows, you may even win a sea turtle of your very own (or not).

Charleston Harbor Cleanup
Saturday, March 17, 2018 at 1 pm

We will meet and depart from the Remley Point boat ramp.

We will leave the ramp at 1 pm.  Everyone can sleep in and it will give the harbor a chance to warm up.

This will be our big spring cleanup that will include prizes for most unique items found.  The annual Boeing – Bosch ticket pulling competition will also happen at this event.  Everyone who signs in receives a ticket and has a chance to win some great and some not-so-great prizes.

It will be windy and a bit chilly, heck it may even rain a little.  If you are wimpy and whiny, you will need to sit this one out.

For this event, we recommend you wear an old pair os sneakers that you do not mind getting wet and muddy.  You can also wear boots but many times, volunteers seem to step in water deeper than the boots defeating the purpose of the boots.

If you have some fortitude and participate, you will have a great experience and make a real difference to the health of Charleston’s harbor.

Beverages and snacks will be provided.

NOTE:  You can deduct as a charitable contribution any unreimbursed out-of-pocket expenses, such as the cost of gas and oil, that are directly related to the use of your car in giving services to a charitable organization. You cannot deduct general repair and maintenance expenses, depreciation, registration fees, or the costs of tires or insurance.

Note:  The IRS has informed us that this provision also applies for boats since it is the vehicle used to perform the volunteer service.
