Triple Play – Three Derelict Boats in One Week

Capping off an already busy spring, we had our busiest boat removal week ever – three derelict/abandoned sailboats removed and disposed of in one week!

One was at a residence and surrendered to Wounded Nature-Working Veterans since it was not restorable. Volunteer Chris Owens led the crew in manually chopping up and hauling off the boat in just under four hours. Jeremy Clower and Steve Yawger assisted.  Check out Steve’s time-lapse GoPro footage. You can watch the video on our YouTube page.

Two boats were then removed from the Ashley River, one floating but derelict and one abandoned in the marsh.  TowBoatUS Charleston again provided exceptional work and Volunteer Jeremy Clower assisted us with photos and in dropping/chopping the mast.

Thanks to Ross Marine, TowBoatUS Charleston, Land and Marine LLC, Dolphin Cove Marina, and Tony Kolgaklis, owner of the local GEICO office, for making this all possible.

These three put us at 88 boats disposed of in two years!
