Wounded Nature–Working Veterans Assists in Removing Sunken Sailboat

Wounded Nature-Working Veterans worked with Deep South Divers, LLC to float, pump, tow, and haul out this sunken sailboat that had spent a year underwater near the US Coast Guard Station Charleston.

The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources Law Enforcement Division and Charleston Police Harbor Patrol maintained pressure via court actions on the owner to force removal of this problem vessel.  Raising this boat was especially difficult since the engine, propeller shaft, and rudder were stripped prior to sinking, leaving multiple holes in the hull for water ingress.  Every sunken or grounded vessel presents their own challenges, and this boat was determined to stay on the bottom of the harbor.

Great work by Deep South Divers to work through multiple attempts and problems to get the job done and make a real coastal difference!
