Major Milestone Reached – 100th Abandoned Boat Removed!

Wounded Nature-Working Veterans achieved a major milestone on October 20th, 2021.

During a collaborative boat removal operation in Horry County, South Carolina we worked with South Carolina Department of Natural Resources – Law Enforcement Division, the US Coast Guard, and Blackwater Dredging and Recovery, to remove four abandoned boats from the coastal waters of Horry County. Blackwater Dredging and Recovery provided the heavy lifting all day long with a barge, large excavator and full complement of crew.

Four abandoned boats in one day is a significant undertaking, and the first boat pulled that day marked a major milestone for Wounded Nature-Working Veterans as the 100th abandoned boat removed in just over two years time. Also supporting the efforts that day were Dirty Dog Dumpsters and North Myrtle Beach Sanitation and Police Departments coordinating disposal of massive amounts debris pulled from these critical coastal waterways.

Wounded Nature-Working Veterans is grateful for the partnerships established in Horry County to address the neglected abandoned boat problem in South Carolina waterways and is scheduled to continue working to remove more boats in the area.
