Wounded Nature-Working Veterans and a group of awesome volunteers ventured out into the tidal marsh in front of the Yorktown and Charleston Harbor Resort on a cold morning on December 10, 2016.
We covered an area that we had previously cleaned because Hurricane Matthew had passed through this area since our last cleanup. We also covered an area of the marsh in front of the USS Yorktown that we had not cleaned before.
There was both good news and bad news associated with this cleanup. The good news is that we did not have to drag as many large pieces of treated wood out of the mud as we did the last time we were here. The bad news is that we found an area in this marsh where untreated sewage is entering the marsh near the shore in front of the USS Yorktown.
