Wounded Nature-Working Veterans Schedule for April-May-June 2024

Volunteer Get-Together
Wednesday, April 3, 2024 – First Wednesday Volunteer get-together and planning session.

This is a very informal gathering of our volunteers and supporters, the later you stay the more informal the evening gets. It is a great chance to meet us and see who we are and what we do.

There is a gate to enter the complex where the restaurant is located. Your server will give you a ticket so you do not have to pay when leaving.

BRING A FRIEND: If you know of someone who wants to volunteer, ask them to join us on Wednesday. We hope everyone interested will come out, meet some interesting people and make some new friends. This is a Dutch event where everyone pays their own tab.

Two Day Cleanup – St Helena, SC
Saturday, May 18 and Sunday, May 19, 2024 8:00 am – 2:30 pm

This is a cleanup where you will be getting into a tidal marsh and removing wood and debris from old docks and boats. We will have contractors working alongside us to get old boats removed from this area including an old shrimp boat.

You will need to wear rubber boots and bring gloves.

We are bringing beverages and a lunch will be provided.

This will be a physically challenging cleanup and will take place rain or shine.

Parking will be at a premium onsite due to contractor trailers and equipment. If you can find parking nearby and car pool it onsite, please do so.

Due to the difficult circumstances of this cleanup and the number of pieces of equipment working on this cleanup we would prefer that children not participate unless they remain at their parents side the entire time.

This is a two day cleanup taking place both Saturday and Sunday. It ends at 2:30 allowing everyone time to enjoy the late afternoon and evening to explore Beaufort and the surrounding community.

Adjacent to Gay Fish Company
Date: Saturday and Sunday, May 18/19, 2024
Time: 8:00 am – 2:30 pm both days

NOTE:  You can deduct as a charitable contribution any unreimbursed out-of-pocket expenses, such as the cost of gas and oil, that are directly related to the use of your car in giving services to a charitable organization. You cannot deduct general repair and maintenance expenses, depreciation, registration fees, or the costs of tires or insurance.  The IRS has informed us that this provision also applies for boats since it is the vehicle used to perform the volunteer service.
