Storm‑Damaged Houseboat Sinking: What Really Happens Next
Great day for the city and county of Georgetown as the last of the derelict, sunken and abandoned boats were removed. DNR led by their director Tom Mulliken and with the dive team on standby if needed removed 9 boats today. A big shoutout to our supporting partners that included Coastal Crane, Towboat, Sea Tow and the public servants who have been supporting our efforts. Also thanks Sam for stopping by to offer your services if needed during the day
The sunken houseboat across from the restaurants could not be removed at this time because it is in such poor condition and has already started breaking apart. And the powerboat in the corner by the steel mill also could not be removed with any of the current equipment we had available. Both will be removed this fall after the channel is dredged.
